Candy Hearts Instructions

Candy Hearts Image

Supplies:

  • Brown, Red and Translucent Polymer Clay
  • Tacky Glue
  • Posterboard
  • Spraypaint (I used gold)
  • Lace or other adornment
Directions:

To make the chocolate candies mix 1/2 translucent to 1/2 brown or 1/3 brown to 1/3 red, to 1/3 translucent to get the desired color of "chocolate" you prefer.  You can tell in the picture that there are slightly different shades of "chocolate" from the amounts of different colors I used to make the candy.

Make a long thin cane and slice with a razor blad to make a clean cut.  Bake at 265 for 10 minutes on a white baking tile to prevent one side from becoming shiny.

To make the box, cut a heart shape from the posterboard.  Cut a long strip of posterboard 1/8" wide.  Run a bead line of glue about 1/8" to 1/4" inside the edge of the heart shape.  With the long strip of posterboard curl it like you would holiday curling ribbon to make it easier to bend.  Bend the strip and hold it in place on top of the beadline of tacky glue to adhere.  This will become the side of the heart-shaped box.  Let dry.  I spray painted the box when it dried with gold spray paint.

Glue small lace or other flowers around the box, if you like.

Put tacky glue into bottom of heart-shapped box with a cotton swap.  Spread evenly, but generously.  Put the polymer clay "chocolates" inside the box.  I used tweezers to do this to get the right positioning.  Let dry.
