Fall
Barbecue

This scene represents a great fall barbecue.
I put the display together on a folding table outside so that the trees
would be evident in the background.
The picnic table I found at a yard sale.
I had seen plastic ones made by Mattel and Arco, but wanted something a
bit more realistic.
The flooring is just a piece of astroturf,
sold by the yard at home centers. It's too funny to ask for 1/2 a
yard. Usually people buy many square feet of this stuff to cover
patios. It was inexpensive and can be used for many different scenes.
The tablecloth is just a fabric remnant cut
with pinking sheers.
The metal bucket was purchased at Michael's.
It contains small watermelons. I found these in the floral supply section
of Walmart.
The ice chest was found in an 80's or early
90's playset. I filled it with small clear crystals that are used
to weight the bottom of floral arrangements. These make the perfect
ice cubes. The beer bottles are candles made by Wilton.
The small dog was included in a Special
Collection picnic set.
On the bench near Skipper is a frisbee
and a toy boat. The toy boat was found at the Dollar Tree store in
the craft section.
The boom box in the upper left corner is a
magnet found in 1999 at Walmart.
The camping lantern on top of the boom
box actually works! I found the Coleman lantern as a keychain at
Lowe's Home Center.
The metal bucket with the four soda bottles
is a magnet. I received this as a gift.
The Chocolate Mousse pie I made myself,
from caulk compound piped into a beer cap, then painted with brown acrylic
paint and some clear varnish.
